The beautiful waterways at the top of the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. This world known paddling haven, consists of many Islands, Coves and Bays to explore, which are home to many wildlife and exquisite flora. Desolation Sound Marine Park, which was created in 1973, is British Columbia’s largest marine park made up of 14,000 acres of upland and a further 6,350 acres of foreshore. Access to this paradise is gained through Okeover Inlet (where you will find a launching area, pay phone and an incredible restaurant) or Historic Lund. There is a $2 per boat fee for embarking and again when you disembark at both of these areas. Mitchell's offers transportation to and from Okeover, with free parking on our private property. The best time of year to paddle Desolation Sound Marine Park or the Copeland Islands Marine Park (also known as the Ragged Islands) is June till October. Desolation Sound does not have specific camping areas, so please contact us, with your mailing address, for all the information on adequate camping spots, an occasional freshwater supply, camping guidelines, tide guide, & maps.
