Clipper and Hellman canoes are the lightest, fastest canoes on the market! This means less effort from the paddler to move the canoe through water, and over land (in portaging). These boats are specially manufactured for the canoe route, with wooden molded yokes for ease in portaging. A superior canoe, for the best experience!
In Clipper, Mitchell's rents the 15' 10" Scout, 16' 8" Cascade, and 17' 6" Tripper. These canoes range from 60-74 pounds. We also rent the world recognized Ultralight, Glasslite and Kevlar Tripper Clipper weighing only 52 or 60 pounds at 17' 6" length; a superior canoe for the experienced paddler!
In Hellman. Mitchell's rents the 16'2" Quetico in Duralite at 49 Ibs and the 18'8" Cruiser in Duralite at only 62 lbs. Each canoe is designed for a different purpose and different sized group. You give us the details and we will reserve a custom canoe for you.ourism bc, bc tourism, canoe in bc, guided adventure tours, tour guides in bc, deoslation sound

EXCURSION TRANSPORT SERVICE

Mitchell's has permission, and is properly equipped to use the active logging roads throughout Powell River at any time! WE OFFER TRANSPORT LIKE NO OTHER! We are capable of transporting 8 boats, people, equipment, or whatever it is you need! We can do transports anywhere from Saltery Bay to Lund! Lakes, ocean, hiking trails, Sunshine Coast Trail - just tell us what your plans are! We can also provide free parking for your car at your own risk, on our private property. Transport fees are available upon request.

TRANSPORTING THE CANOE YOURSELF: For the day trippers who would like to transport the canoe yourself, you must have a vehicle that has a roof at least 3.5 feet wide, and the roof must not be too heavily curved (in any direction). You also must be sure that it has a metal hole (or loop) to put rope through on its four corners. If you can get roof racks, this will make the transporting a LOT easier!

It's a good idea to use a vehicle that is suited for logging road travel: lots of clearance, good tires, a good spare with the tools needed to change tires, and always have a full tank of gas when venturing into the wilderness.

TRAVELING FROM VANCOUVER to Powell River is approx. 4.5 hours by car which includes two scenic ferry rides. You pay once at the Horseshoe Bay Ferry just outside of Vancouver, and the second ferry (Earls Cove) has no charge when traveling north to Powell River. We are located at the top of the Sunshine Coast, 142 Km northwest of Vancouver, BC. From the Saltery Bay terminal we are about a 20 minute drive, just follow this map.
