Get some exercise in Powell River’s spectacular forest! We are very fortunate to have two warming hut's in the Knucklehead Mountain’s. Ascend & descend in one day, or spend the night in warmth and go on day snowshoe excursions from there. Each cabin has a sleeping loft, pellet stove, picnic table, and a propane cook stove.
Please remember that the Logging roads are closed to the public Monday to Friday 6am-6pm! We can provide transport during this time period if required.

“Throughout
history, humans have used snowshoes out of necessity to hunt,
trap, travel and socialize. They were lifesavers in fierce winter
weather, and provided access to remote backcountry wilderness.
High country and bush pilots carried them on rescue missions
and “just-in-case”. Made of wood and leather, snowshoes were
wide, long, & sturdy, but heavy and difficult to maneuver. The
image of the typical snowshoer was that big burly ‘Nanook of
the North’ man.” |
In 1997, we discovered the beautiful cabin in the Knucklehead Mountain Range for the very first time. It was hardly known then, so we decided to provide public access to it through renting snowshoes and having the answers to your questions. Whether you just need information, or a pair of snowshoes, contact us for all the details. Also, we frequently snowshoe to the cabin and to other destinations we've discovered. These are top-of-the-line axel shoes with precision bindings that DO NOT slip AND the toughest decking for level stepping! They are very comfortable and extremely easy to walk in!
